cricket news - India seal ODI series against West indies

         India clinched the ODI series by 4-1 against West indies. Rohit Sharma got the man of the series for his consistent batting throughout the series. He made 305 runs at an average of 76.25.
         The three top run-getters in the series are – Rohit Sharma (305), Virender Sehwag (265) and Virat Kohli (243).

Highlights of the series
         For the second year in succession, Virat Kohli is the top run-getter for India in a calendar year. Last year, he had amassed 995 runs at an average of 47.38 in 25 matches. Kohli remains the only batsman to manage 2,000 runs or more in ODIs since January 2010, aggregating 2376 at an average of 47.52, including seven centuries, in 59 matches.

        The dashing Indian opener Virender Sehwag scripted the remarkable feat of scoring the highest-ever ODI score of 219, thus achieving the unique distinction of being India`s highest individual scorer in both Tests and one-day internationals. He is the only player to score triple ton in test and double ton in ODI.

        Kieron Pollard made his maiden century (119 off 110 balls) at Chennai in the final match of the series.Pollard`s tally of 10 sixes is the most by a batsman against India, surpassing the 9 each by Ijaz Ahmed for Pakistan at Lahore on October 2, 1997 and by Shahid Afridi at Kanpur on April 15, 2005.

        Manoj Tiwary (104 retired hurt off 126 balls) posted his highest innings in ODIs - his first century.Tiwary has received his first Man of the Match award in ODIs.
